Big Boy Ryan Rockwell
Born 8:16:30 PM, 15 December 2006, La Jolla, California. 8 pounds, 12.2 ounces (3,975g). 20" (51 cm). The technical gobbledygook after each shot is the equipment I used for each photo. Many photographer friends ask. 31 December 2010, Friday Ryan loves Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. (Dada's Koss 4AAs and iPod Touch, snapped with Nikon D7000 and 35/1.8 DX.)

12 December 2010, Sunday Fourth Birthday Party at Noni's House!! Ryan opens his first toy of the party. (Nikon D7000, -0.7 exposure compensation, 35/1.8 DX, SB-600 direct flash on-camera, AUTO ISO programmed to choose ISO 280 at 1/125, Program chose f/5, Auto WB with A2 trim, STANDARD Picture Control with +2 saturation.)
Ryan's remote-control boat. Ryan calls this his mokey-mole boat," and is very precise in pointing out that it's a boat, not a ship. I was impressed that he knew the difference, and when asked to define the difference, said that boats have no sheets (sails), while ships do. (Actually, the difference is that ships are large enough to sail the seas, while boats are better for rivers, lakes and bays.) (Nikon D7000, -0.7 exposure compensation, 35/1.8 DX, SB-600 direct flash on-camera, AUTO ISO programmed to choose ISO 160 at 1/160, Program chose f/4.5, Auto WB with A2 trim, STANDARD Picture Control with +2 saturation.)
Ryan slams la Piñata. (Nikon D7000, -0.3 exposure compensation, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D, SB-600 direct flash on-camera, REAR SYNC, AUTO ISO programmed to choose ISO 250 at 1/115, Program chose f/4.5, Auto WB with A2 trim, STANDARD Picture Control with +2 saturation, warmed with a curves layer in Photoshop CS5.)
Ryan and his birthday cake. Man, I was never popular enough to rate a sheet cake for any of my birthdays! (Nikon D7000, -0.3 exposure compensation, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D, SB-600 direct flash on-camera, AUTO ISO programmed to choose ISO 100 at 1/250, Program chose f/4.5, Auto WB with A2 trim, STANDARD Picture Control with +2 saturation. THis was a tough shot: Ryan is in direct sunlight, and the cake is in shadow.)
Ryan and his mokey-mole boat. (Nikon D7000, -0.7 exposure compensation, Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-D, SB-600 direct flash on-camera, SLOW SYNC still set from before, AUTO ISO chose ISO 400 at 1/15, Program chose f/5.5, Auto WB with A2 trim, STANDARD Picture Control with +2 saturation. THis was a tough shot: Ryan was ecstatic over is mokeymole boat, and this was the best shot I could get of him running all over telling us all how it was "his favorite toy in the whole world." Ryan also asked everyone if they liked his boat, and if they wanted one like it, and if they said yes, suggested that they ask Santa Claus for one and Santa would bring them one.)
