Merry Christmas 2011!!! Photographing Katie and Ryan together is nearly impossible. Mom said no Photoshop shenanigans this year, so we got what we got. I snapped this with my D7000, on-camera direct SB-400 flash, and a Nikon 50mm f/1.8 AF-n from about 2000 given to me as broken (seems to work great). Mom thought I was nuts asking her to hold pillows to block the direct morning sun from hitting the kids, but as you know, the contrast between the direct sunlight and the indoor Christmas tree would have resulted in even more abysmal results than this!
