SUPAI MOTEL, FIRST LIGHT. (Velvia, 81A filter, 75mm lens, New Mamiya 6, NCPS scan.)
SUPAI MOTEL, CLOSER. (Velvia, 81A filter, 75mm lens, New Mamiya 6, NCPS scan.)
PUMPS. (Canon S90.)
BUS. (Velvia, 81A filter, 75mm lens, New Mamiya 6, NCPS scan.)
BUS. (Canon S90.) The S90 looks pretty good by comparison here to film. There is more difference in exposure than there is in color. As digital goes, the S90 is about as good as it gets.
OATMAN. (Velvia 50, B+W MRC 39mm 81A filter, 1957 50mm f/2 LEICA SUMMICRON with near-focusing range, 1963 LEICA M3, 1950s selenium LEICAMETER MC light meter, NCPS scan.) Frame 37 on a roll of 36. Good times!
EMPORIUM. (Velvia 50, B+W MRC 39mm 81A filter, 1965 35mm f/2 LEICA SUMMICRON, 1963 LEICA M3, 1950s selenium LEICAMETER MC light meter, NCPS scan.) Frame thirty-nine on the same roll of 36. We take the extraordinary for granted with film; we never get shorted.
ESSEX, ROUTE 66. (Velvia 50, B+W MRC 39mm 81A filter, 1957 50mm f/2 LEICA SUMMICRON with near-focusing range, 1963 LEICA M3, 1950s selenium LEICAMETER MC light meter, NCPS scan.) enlargement. Is this 1957 lens sharp enough for you, on film, hand-held? I'm so glad to be free from digital. Good riddance to so much time wasted for nothing. I can drop this slide, along with everything else from this trip, in a projector and hit you with 25 megapixels on-screen in seconds.
ESSEX EX-CAFE, ROUTE 66. (Velvia 50, B+W MRC 39mm 81A filter, 1965 35mm f/2 LEICA SUMMICRON, 1963 LEICA M3, 1950s selenium LEICAMETER MC light meter, NCPS scan.) I dodged (lightened) the middle of this shot to keep your eyes centered.
ESSEX, ROUTE 66. (Canon S90, flash on.)
ESSEX, ROUTE 66. (Canon S90, flash on.) I burned and dodged this one. I also slammed it into black-and-white; the original is boring.
SHOE TREE, ROUTE 66. (Canon S90, flash on.) Dave Wyman said it best: this is the tree of lost soles.
THE END.
(at least until 2011.)
