This Moment 18mm ultrawide conversion lens mounts to one of Moment's own cases to convert your phone's standard lens into about the equivalent of an 18mm non-distorting ultrawide lens on a full-frame or 35mm still camera. It has a bayonet mount that attaches to the bayonet mount in Moment's cases; it won't mount to the case you already use. It doesn't distort as cheap converters do; with this converter straight lines stay straight. All phones vary, but most modern iPhones have wide cameras with native 4mm lenses that see about what a 26mm lens sees on a full-frame or 35mm camera. With this converter the iPhone sees about what an 18mm ultrawide sees, and it's undistorted so straight lines stay straight. As conversion lenses go it's much better than average. Not only do lines stay straight, it's also pretty sharp. This really opens up what I can do with an iPhone, and is especially useful for real estate because agents now can shoot much better listing photos using just their iPhones (or other camera phones). How wide is it? Set your iPhone to Square mode and it sees the same angles as the extraordinary HASSELBLAD SWC does with its astonishing BIOGON lens! Shoot in your phone's usual rectangular mode and it's even wider! W ‑ O ‑ W!
GoodSharper than expected for a conversion lens. Straight lines stay straight. Comes with a sturdy cap and a perfect little drawstring pouch to carry it in your pocket. No loss of light. Autofocus works at least as fast as before, and you can focus even closer than without the 18mm lens!
BadYou have to use one of Moment's own cases; like all conversion lenses it doesn't magically attach to the case you already have.
MissingYou can't use flash, at least on iPhone, because the lens blocks it, and you probably can't use flash with Moment's case because it interferes slightly. No worries, iPhone flash has always been pretty useless so I never use it myself. No rear cap available, but it's not needed because the rear element is recessed. Keep the lens in its included sack and you're good. I don't want to mess with a tiny rear cap! Rear, Moment 18mm conversion lens. bigger.
