I paid $1,400 for M4-P, 50/2 and MR meter

In 1972, Olden asked $70 for a used 50/2, WHICH IS $341 IN 2008.

Performance  back to top

Intro   Specs   Performance   Usage   Recommendations

RF can flare if bright lines too bright

Hot show has a bolt in the way and can block most flash feet

07m close focus, yay!

film counter rotes backwards!

M4

Closer focus than 1950s cameras

Can't see shutter dial with digisix

Easier to hit lens release button than on M7, since m7 had hooded release button

Shutter speed knob a pain to move by itself(without meter): too small and too short.

Lift meter knob to spin past B for LT exposures. If you do, it stays hovered over the cameras knob so you can soon meter knob independantly.

125 seems noisier and with more vibration than M7

45 degree crank nice

Film drops right out when unloading

No self timer

Have to pull meter to attach flash.

Queit film wind, ratchet release.

Meter needle lock makes readings easy,, and locks of down for off road travel.

Hot shoe.

Lighter than M7?

Easy to shift shutter dial with meter attached, dificult without meter.

Counts to 40 and stops

Won't work with 21mm lens: finder has to replace meter in the one accesories shoe.

Top of 90mm frame lines also works as a rangefinder.

28mm four long bars
35mm four long bars
50mm four bars
75mm four dots
90mm four short bars
135mm four dots

Forget shutter release with gloves

I support my growing family through this website.

If you find this as helpful as a book you might have had to buy or a workshop you may have had to take, feel free to help me continue helping everyone.

If you've gotten your gear through one of my links or helped otherwise, you're family. It's great people like you who allow me to keep adding to this site full-time. Thanks!

If you haven't helped yet, please do, and consider helping me with a gift of $5.00.

The biggest help is when you use any of these links when you get anything. It costs you nothing, and is this site's, and thus my family's, biggest source of support. These places always have the best prices and service, which is why I've used them since before this website existed. I recommend them all personally.

Thanks for reading!
