18 October 2014, Saturday top Stoneman Bridge with Leaf in Water in Foreground, Merced River, Yosemite Valley, 8:04 AM. (iPhone 6 Plus, f/2.2 at 1/40 hand-held at Auto ISO 32, Athentech Perfectly Clear v2.) I shot this on iPhone because I shot it from just inches above the water. No way was I going to crawl around down there and try peering at a tiny DSLR LCD in Live View or use a right-angle finder when all I had to do was reach down a little with my iPhone and look at its huge screen. The iPhone focuses flawlessly and everything's always in focus. Done. It sure beats fiddling with a DSLR in the muck.
Stoneman Bridge, Merced River, Yosemite Valley, 8:04 AM. (Nikon D750, Nikon 28-300mm VR at 170mm, f/5.6 at 1/100 hand-held at Auto ISO 1,250, split-toned print.)
Backlit Tree in Stoneman Meadow at Dawn with Godbeams, Yosemite Valley, 8:04 AM. (Nikon D750, Nikon 28-300mm VR at 42mm, f/25 at 1/50 hand-held at Auto ISO 100.) I shot this at f/25 to get a better sunstar.
Great Room, Ahwahnee Hotel, Yosemite Valley, 8:04 AM. (Nikon D810, Nikon 16-35mm VR at 16mm, f/4 at 1/8 hand-held at Auto ISO 200.) Camera-original ©MEDIUM BASIC JPG file.
Climbers on the Face of the Half Dome as seen from Glacier Point 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) away, Yosemite, 6:09 PM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon EF 300mm f/2.8 L, Canon Extender EF 2x II and Canon Extender EF 1.4x II (equals 840mm), f/8 (wide open) at 1/30 at ISO 100, Athentech Perfectly Clear v2.) I cropped this a little, giving even more magnification. Half dome is a long way away; here's how it looks with a shot made at only 300mm on my LCD: Half Dome as Captured by the Canon 5D Mark III and EF 300m f/2.8 L, Yosemite, 6:19 PM. (iPhone 6 Plus, f/2.2 at 1/30 hand-held at Auto ISO 32, Athentech Perfectly Clear v2.)
Speeding through Wawona Tunnel, Yosemite, 7:43 PM. (Nikon D750, Nikon 16-35mm VR at 28mm, f/3.5 at 1/15 hand-held at Auto ISO 2,000, Athentech Perfectly Clear v2.)
That's all for today. NEXT ->> 19 October 2014, Sunday
