14 April 2012, Saturday top Today the group headed out for our second full day of shooting.
Lobby, Arroyo Grande, 7:54 AM. ORIGINAL © FILE. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 20-35mm USM at 20mm, f/5.6 at 1/40 at ISO 1,600.) We headed North to Harmony.
False Church, Harmony, 11:47 AM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 20-35mm USM at 20mm, f/5 at 1/15 at AUTO ISO 640.) I needed more emphasis to the center, so I lightened the center with a levels adjustment layer mask in Photoshop CS5. Aperture does this much more easily.
Harmonious Shapes, Harmony, 11:50 AM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 55-200mm USM II at 200mm, f/8 at 1/400 at AUTO ISO 100.) This is all about shapes, and also about color, so I was too lazy to split-tone it.
Harmony, 11:47 AM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 20-35mm USM at 20mm, f/14 at 1/160 at AUTO ISO 100.) After Harmony, it was Linn's Farm Stand, where I stood in a big pie:
Linn's Fruit Bin, San Luis Obispo, 1:40 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/6.4 at 1/420 at AUTO ISO 400.)
Red and Yellow at Linn's Fruit Bin, San Luis Obispo, 1:59 PM. (Fuji X-Pro1 with Fuji XR 35mm f/1.4 ASPH, f/4.5 at 1/125 at AUTO ISO 200.) Color and texture, not a table. From Linn's we headed up the coast to visit the elephant seals.
Labyrinth, 3:25 PM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 55-200mm USM II at 200mm, f/9 at 1/400 at AUTO ISO 100.) This is a storm grate. I deliberately stood where the shadows all lined-up vertically. Now north to Ragged Point.
Ragged Point, 4:22 PM. ORIGINAL © FILE (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 55-200mm USM II at 55mm, f/11 at 1/320 at AUTO ISO 100.) This was pretty dull when we were there, so I ever so delicately adjusted the colors — slightly. Not bad for a $150 lens.
San Simeon, 4:22 PM. ORIGINAL © FILE (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 55-200mm USM II at 55mm, f/11 at 1/320 at AUTO ISO 100.) We headed back south and enjoyed dinner in Cambria. After dinner, the sea along Moonstone Beach.
Sperm Blast, 7:27 PM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 55-200mm USM II at 165mm, f/5.6 at 1/160 at AUTO ISO 400.)
Sunset, Moonstone Beach, Cambria, 7:31 PM. (Canon 5D Mark III, Canon 55-200mm USM II at 200mm, f/7.1 at 1/320 at AUTO ISO 100.) So remind me again why I'd need the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS L II? It wouldn't do anything different here; the foreground is simply out of focus and will do the same thing on any lens.
That's all for today. NEXT ->> Sunday
