PERFORMANCE: Telephone Support

Luckily you won't need support. Minolta only works their hours, 8.30 AM to 5PM, New York time. (Nikon has free 24/7 support for every scanner they've ever made!)

I called Minolta USA twice. Here's the number (877) 462-4464

The first time I called I got William. I called before I installed the scanner to ask what the latest software version was and if there were any tricks I should know for my machine before I install it, since I got burned with so many other scanners that blew up and factory people who laughed at me because they knew the software in the box was defective from the start. William suggested just getting the newer version off the web. I did and it worked fine.

After installing it I noticed a few things like the firewire communications dying after any scan longer than a half hour, as well as some other oddities mentioned elsewhere. . This time I got Anthony who was a complete waste of time for both of us. He had no answers, he just guessed. I played with it myself and solved the big problem: The Minolta driver software is defective and does not ping the firewire port often enough to keep it awake. My CD-R burner worked great on that port, so I just daisy-chained the scanner inline between the CD-R and my Mac. My Que! CD-R, designed properly, keeps the firewire port awake.
